You may think JAMS is just about learning the abacus, but we are about so much more!
It is Sensei Miwako’s goal to help develop the whole child.

JAMS encourages and fosters:

Confidence
Our students perform at higher levels and can do things that their peers (and even parents) cannot! They see their progress and take great pride in their accomplishments.

Concentration
JAMS students are taught to sit properly and work quietly for an hour or more without interruption. This repetitive course enhances their focus and ability to self-regulate.

Perseverance
We remind students that mistakes happen because they are challenging themselves. They see that the harder they work, the more they can overcome limitations.

Independence
Students work on their own, going at their own pace. They are in charge of their own success.

Responsibility
Students are responsible for being completely ready for class. They take responsibility for their own role in their education.

Respect
JAMS students address teachers as “sensei” using polite language. They work quietly, respecting their classmates and teachers.

At JAMS we want our students to excel not only in math, but in every aspect of their academic and social lives. We hope the part we play in their learning will benefit them for a lifetime.
